The Path to Architectural Licensing
What? No more CSE Oral Examinations? Many proclaim it was a rite of passage, a boot camp of sorts to pass muster. Today’s candidates may not be drafting by candlelight (and before the invention of coffee no less) like the old days, but they are still struggling to understand the hoops, hurdles and techniques to navigating their way in the profession.
Becoming a licensed architect in California can be confusing, frustrating, sometimes even time consuming. As an individual in the process, it’s important to understand those requirements and what the path to architecture licensure entails for you. As a Licensed Professional, it is important to understand what the requirements are of today’s graduates so we may be effective mentors and guides.
Topics will include:
- Becoming familiar with CA licensure requirements
- Education and Experience Requirements
- The intern Development Program (IDP/CIDP)
- Architecture Registration Examination (ARE)
- The California Supplemental Examination (CSE)
Our Presenter: Haley Gipe, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, IDP State Coordinator AIACC.
As the IDP State Coordinator for California, Haley has been a part of numerous presentations and outreach efforts on behalf of the AIACC and The NCARB. She loves educating and helping others on the path to licensure. As a proud Cal Poly San Luis Obispo alum she also co-hosts a weekly podcast called "the Studio" at sloarch.com to help connect architecture students and alumni in the real world.
This program meets AIA/CES criteria. Participants will receive 1.5 LU.
