Cultivating, Capturing and Disseminating Knowledge: How to Distill and Share Knowledge
Architects and other design professionals have operated within a culture of protecting their knowledge and intellectual capital. Unlike scientists and medical researchers with ethical mandates to share knowledge, design professionals covet knowledge to the detriment of the broader profession and general public.
This session will illustrate innovative models for sharing knowledge and breaking down the silos between the multitude of stakeholders involved in the design process. Attendees will view cutting-edge examples that will encourage them to: develop their own engaging and informative methods of knowledge sharing; motivate fellow professionals to cultivate, capture and share knowledge; repurpose knowledge and leverage their firm's intellectual capital; and encourage allied professionals to openly share their knowledge, wisdom and practice techniques.
This session will highlight videos of thought leaders throughout the United States sharing their knowledge, illustrate techniques for capturing highly-distilled knowledge in a variety of medium, and provide best practice guidance for firms wanting to develop their own knowledge sharing programs.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
1. Develop engaging and informative methods of knowledge sharing.
2. Motivate fellow professionals to cultivate, capture and share knowledge.
3. Repurpose knowledge and leverage their firm's intellectual capital.
4. Encourage allied professionals to openly share their knowledge, wisdom and practice techniques.
