"Regarding the education of the architect.....Let him be educated, skillful with the pencil, instructed in geometry, know much about history, have followed the philosophers with attention, understand music, have some knowledge of medicine, know the opinions of the jurists, and be acquainted with astronomy and tote theory of the heavens."

Scholarship Program
The academic education of an architect is a uniquely and wonderfully enlightening experience. It can also be rigorous and demanding of one’s passion, time and resources. AIASMC’s annual Scholarship Program concretely reflects the Chapter’s commitment to this educational experience of future professionals. The Award program is typically held in the Spring and welcomes local students accepted to university programs in Architecture.
“I believe it takes a long time to be an architect; it takes a long time to be the architect of one’s aspirations. You can become an architect professionally overnight. But to feel the spirit of architecture from which one makes his offering takes much longer.”
Louis I. Kahn, Between Silence and Light
