Heart of San Mateo County, a public / private partnership that promotes affordable housing opportunities in San Mateo County, announces the GLADUR Design Challenge. The ADU Design Challenge encourages the expansion of San Mateo’s housing stock with great designs for Accessory Dwelling Units!

The challenge calls for interdisciplinary teams of students and professionals in design, engineering, planning, business and communications, as well as other fields to come up with compelling and creative ADU designs and approaches. We welcome any and all bold and innovative ideas to address the enormous need for housing options in the region, with a particular need to address the practical challenges of sustainability, constructibility, and market Appeal. The design submissions will be offered to the public to accelerate the development of these sustainable and affordable housing options. All submissions are due on Thursday, April 11th. There is no deadline to register, and you can do so for free here. Feel free to reach out to us for any questions not answered in the challenge brief, and we look forward to receiving your submissions!
